but not without some drama. I had to work yesterday, so Phil was in charge of getting the directions from mapquest to the 2 places we could go for our fingerprinting. One was in Johnson City and the other was in Kingsport. We wanted to go to the closest one to our house, didn't really want to waste the gas.
Well, Philip picked me up from work at 12 and said the one in Kingsport was closer and it was a straight shot, straight down 1 road. That sounded pretty good to me. It was and UPS store and we had till 2:30 to get there. So off we go...we found it very easily, and passed by a shopping center we were going to stop at on our way back. As Phil parked I got very nervous, their lights weren't on. Phil got out to check and, sure enough, they closed at 12. Okay, so the place in Johnson City wasn't supposed to close till 3:00 so we had just enough time to go home, print directions, and get there.
So we backtracked, passed the shopping center that we couldn't stop at, and went home. To the confusion of Ranger, we rushed in, printed the directions and were back on the road. Now the directions to Johnson City are normally very easy. We've gone there a lot, especially since that's where the Olive Garden (my most very favorite restaurant) is. But, the church that held the fingerprinting wasn't in the area we are used to going, so we were relying on the mapquest directions to get us there. Well we were doing okay till it told us to get off the exit toward Elizabethton, then said to go toward ETSU, then turn on some road (I think Milligan), then do a u-turn. Now if you had seen us, the exit ramp had a go left (toward ETSU) or go right (toward Elizabethton). Okay already we're confused. We went right, then realized that ETSU was the other way, did a U-turn. We then decided that the other way must have been right and did another u-turn. Okay so we pass an exit with the road name (Milligan), but as we do we realize are already on the road the church is on. So we pass the exit and figure we'll ride this way a bit and see if we see the church. We quickly realize that this is not the right direction and their are no turn offs. We are on our way to Elizabethton. Sure enough about 6 minutes down the road there is a light we can do, yet another, u-turn. Finally we are going in the right direction. We found the church at about 2:40.
So you'd think that it would be smooth sailing from here wouldn't you? We'll on our way back home we got on the interstate going in the wrong direction. Fun!!
We finally made it back home and are very happy to have the last hurdle (for now) finished. We just didn't expect it to take 2 hours and 35 minutes to drive to a location about 30 minutes away.
