Before I fill in the blanks of the past few days, Sandi wanted to make sure her last post was clear. We have not been chosen by a birthmother for a placement; however, we are finally at the stage where our profile will be among those shown to prospective birthmothers. Our profile will also be available on Bethany's website.
For the first time since the second week of classes at King, I do not have any papers that need to be graded. I plowed through the last of the dusty homework sets this afternoon, and I had graded all my tests by yesterday morning. On the upside, my Calculus III students did really well on their first test; a couple of folks were a single arithmetic boo-boo from a perfect score. Unfortunately, my Analysis students did not fare so well. That kind of hurt, since I was pretty happy with the test I had written. From the 'What the Heck?' department comes another news flash: I had a student come to class yesterday whom I had not seen since August. I had no contact with her during the intervening month, although I did see her around campus occasionally. I had presumed she was planning to drop the course, but that is evidently not the case.
Things have been sporadically crazy at the bank for Sandi. The current economic downturn has caused a few folks in this area to panic, despite the fact that BB&T avoided the lending fiasco which is generating much of the hysteria. I found the fact that someone emptied a five-figure checking account to stuff the cash under a mattress simultaneously amusing and frightening. I suppose this is what happens when people fail to pay attention in history class.
On a happier note, we will be heading home for the weekend. Have a fantastic weekend of your own, everyone!

Finally ...
This is just an email I sent to Mark and his reponse:
Homestudy?
Hi Mark, I don't want to be a bother... but, do you have any info about our homestudy? I hope your week is going well. We're going home this weekend, and I'm very excited for tomorrow to come. :) Sandi (and Phil)
Response
Yep.......Terri (within the past hour) has given me the edited version that I will correct and verify tomorrow. Your approval date will be October 3, 2008 and I will send your Approval Letter to you via e-mail tomorrow!
Julie already has your Family Profile but I will "load-in" Lauren's copy tomorrow and also mail a Family Profile to Chattanooga.
So.......as of tomorrow morning you are official.
Congrats!
