It's Break! Hooray, Break!!

Yes, the semester has reached its midpoint at King College, which conveniently coincides with Columbus Day. To sweeten the pot even further, Sandi was actually off for the weekend; while she was scheduled for Saturday, she was able to get off due to her having worked every Saturday prior to a holiday since starting at the bank. We have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to spend time together.

Over the weekend, we did our parts to stimulate the nation's economy. Sandi went to Hallmark on Saturday to gather a fresh batch of ornaments, while I took some time on Sunday to spend the remainder of my birthday money. Sandi finally found a Wii Fit package, and the subsequent embarrassment at our lousy physical conditioning has taken up a good portion of the last couple of days. Not everything has been fun and games; we also rearranged some of the bins in the basement.

Our big mission for today was to rake the leaves that have accumulated in the back yard. We also seized the chance to actually mow the back yard for the first time in a few weeks. I have to mention at this point that we have no trees on our property, yet we had to rake up five bags of leaves this afternoon. Does anyone else have this problem? To make the situation even more ridiculous, I left the bags near the fence (with about a foot of space between them and the chain-link), and Ranger somehow managed to get his teeth on one of them. Of course, the poor plastic never stood a chance against a determined Big Bazooka, and a nice little pile of leaves is sitting in front of our gate now. I really should have known better . . .

Sandi has to return to work tomorrow, whereas I have another day of respite prior to the second half of the semester. That should give me just enough time to catch up our laundry. Have a great week, everyone!
