Yes, my birthday has now come and (almost) gone. At the moment, Sandi and I are in the midst of the most exciting stretch of years -- to a number theorist. The positive integers from 27 to 32 each are interesting in some mathematical way. Exactly what those interesting properties are is left as an exercise for the reader.
The celebration began yesterday, when we headed over to King to watch a couple of soccer games. The good news is that we won both games; the bad news is that the weather was less than glorious for our viewing experience. We spent most of the second game under umbrellas to shield ourselves as much as possible from the rain. Between the sporting events and Sandi's shift at the bank in the morning, there was little room for anything else yesterday.
As the birthday boy, I got to choose where we went to eat lunch today. We ended up going to Smokey Bones' Barbecue and Grill, which has some pretty good ribs. The restaurant also features a volume control system which lets you listen to one of the televisions around the dining area. While we awaited our entrees, I opened a pair of birthday cards from my mom and Sandi; as a constant reminder of my growing sappiness, I found my eyes quite moist during the reading. After the meal, we hit the mall for a present-shopping trip. I picked up a couple of video games, and Sandi found a new top for work at Lane Bryant. On the way home from Johnson City, we had to stop by Lowe's to buy a new air filter for the house. Incidentally, can anyone tell me why the air filters at Lowe's are sandwiched between fashion bath fixtures and plumbing supplies? We took it easy for the rest of the day, and we finished another video game before Sandi hit the hay.
I need to retire soon myself -- just as soon as I can chuck the last of the rowdy partygoers out the door. Have a great week, everyone!
