For a little more than an hour, I was a full professor. Well, not really, but I played one on TV. Well . . . not actually on TV, but I did participate in a murder mystery on campus this evening. As Professor Charles D. Manding, I was one of the suspects in the death of library director Reed Books. Yes, every name involved is a pun of some sort. I had quite a great deal of fun with the part; my character was an expert on the mating habits of weevils, which is completely disjoint from anything I have ever studied. I found a picture of a weevil online and carried it with me, calling the critter Mortimer and insisting that it lived in a box of organic oatmeal in my kitchen. Moreover, I spoke in a mousy voice and was constantly wringing my hands at about chest level. For all I know, everyone else in the library wanted to hit me, but I enjoyed the experience.
My trip back to King meant that Sandi would have to find something to do while I was gone, so she decided to pull up some more carpet. She also did some sanding on the freshly exposed wood flooring. The results look pretty good, apart from the threshold of the bathroom, where she had to rip up a transitional tack strip.
My next batch of tests is in the offing, so keep both my students and me in your prayers. Have a great Wednesday!
